Marketing & Automation for Profitable Dental Implant Leads

WHEN TO USE FACEBOOK AND GOOGLE ADS

If you have talked to several marketing companies, you may get different answers to this question based on who you are asking. Sometimes, marketing companies will recommend either Google or Facebook Ads based on the platform they know the best or where they can make the most money. My recommendation is the one that will get the most Dental Implant Patients for the least amount of money.

The short answer is simple:

You want to target new people using Google Ads
and retarget them with Facebook Ads.

There is a big difference between being  INTERESTED  in Dental Implants and being READY  to get Dental Implants.

Facebook is excellent at targeting people who might be interested in buying a product or service. When I started generating Dental Implant Leads with Facebook Ads, I was delighted to get many leads for just a few dollars. People were fast to fill out my lead forms with detailed information about themselves. They let me know about their current situation and which procedure they were most interested in getting, however, I couldn’t get a hold of many of those people by phone. The few people I connected with shared with me they were "just-looking" or weren't ready to do anything for a while.

As you know, people may take months or even years to book the procedure after deciding to get a new smile. They may have already decided to get them (and Facebook has noticed their desire to get dental implants based on their clicking history), but they are waiting until they have saved up the money, received a tax refund or a line of credit. Paying to show ads to someone on Facebook that is only interested in getting Dental Implants and not going to be as cost-effective because only a tiny percentage of people that are interested in getting dental implants are going to get the procedure any time in the near future.

Lamborghini famously doesn't advertise on Facebook or TV for the same reason... people love watching the supercar ad. Still, people going to buy one don't need a commercial to be reminded to visit their Lamborghini dealer.

Facebook is a great passive marketing platform, meaning people aren't searching for specific things to buy. They scroll down their timeline feed, and the Facebook algorithm decides which ads they will be shown. This passive marketing approach works great for small impulse purchases. Facebook is also reaching too many people that aren't ready to make such a big financial and medical decision as getting dental implants, and then take the action to get them. Facebook reaches far too many people that are just interested or "just thinking about it."

The typical Facebook user glances at ads while watching their friends' latest cruise vacation videos and jokes about coffee, wine, and movies. Do you think anyone would say, "Geez, I totally forgot I wanted Dental Implants, thanks for the reminder, I'll book the procedure tomorrow."

Google ads is a better platform for dental implants because their advertising platform is active, meaning that a person would choose to go to Google, type exactly what types of websites and results they want to see. When someone is READY for dental implants, they enter "Best Dental Implants Near Me" or "Dental Implant Financing" into the search bar and click to see the results. A person reaching out to Google for help will be much more likely to go to your office for a consultation than someone who clicked on your Facebook Ad in between scrolling through adorable cat videos.

While it might be more expensive to reach each person on Google compared to Facebook, it is worth the additional cost because they are ready NOW. The most important statistic to measure your success is the cost to connect with each Dental Implant Patient. I'd rather reach ten people that are ready to schedule a surgery in the next 30 days than 1,000 people that are "thinking about it."

Once the person has clicked on your Google Ads, you can take the next step to install Facebook tracking code on your website, which will communicate to Facebook which of their users have visited your website. You can then run a smaller Facebook campaign to only the people on Facebook who have already taken the action to visit your website. This technique is called "retargeting" because you are taking the targeted people that have already taken action on Google, and targeting the same people again on Facebook. I suggest that 90% of your ad budget is invested in Google Ads to connect with the right people and the remaining 10% on Facebook to remind them of your practice.

The repetitive Facebook Ads is not only cost-effective, but will also establish you as the authority make them more likely to select your dental practice. I will often hear people say, "I didn't book a consultation initially, but after seeing your Ads on Facebook everywhere, I didn't realize how established you were compared to your competitors."
